Wonderland Part 1

 As part of the Wonderland team for Common Art, I am tasked with creating two character types for the scene in the Red Queen's throne room, the playing card soldiers and the frog heralds. The designs of the characters will be modified for this project, but when it came to the card soldiers, I liked the design so much that I decided to keep them fairly true to the live action film. I did find the original concept art for the soldiers, which is somewhat different than the final film, so I will be working off of that.


For the frogs, I wanted to make a new design, adding clothing more reminiscent of a medieval herald, and changing the species to a tree frog for a more appealing look.


In ZBrush, I created proxy versions at the appropriate scale of both characters for use in engine.

Yamarashi: Part 1

I have been planning on trying to design my own kaiju from the Pacific Rim universe for a while now, and finally I have the opportunity to do so. I picked an interesting one, a kaiju that is only mentioned in the first film, and only appears as one of the character's arm tattoos. Using this very abstract and limited depiction, I am trying to create the kaiju, Yamarashi. My interpretation of the drawing is that it is a turtle-like monster, with a spiky shell and armored legs. It also has forelimbs with claws and a sharklike head with blunt teeth. I created the anatomy of the beast with ZSpheres before adding detail in accordance with other Kaiju's from the film.

Portfolio 1: Yamarashi - Schedule

For my first portfolio piece, I will be designing a model of the kaiju,  Yamarashi from the Pacific Rim franchise. This kaiju does not appear in the film, but is mentioned as the first kaiju defeated by the main character, and an abstract version is shown as another character's tattoo. I will be attempting to create this monster with this very limited information.
