For this project we had to create a scene using UV textured blocks in the vein of Minecraft. I decided to create a temple interior scene using geometric designs and tribal face motifs. I also wanted to play around with lighting to create a very warm scene.
I used the lesson on creating flat, transparent materials to craft the small tufts of grass poking through the blocks and the torches on the wall. I like how the spotlights I put near the flames make them look like they're actually glowing. I spent some time exploring how to make the eyes of the face carvings glow. At first I attempted to use contrast to isolate the glow to the white eyes, but it did not give me the desired effect. So I opted to create a separate image of just the eyes and isolate the alpha as a mask to create the harsh red glow. Then I used the time node with some offsets to create the sequence.
